SCO: Usher Hall, Edinburgh review

A triumphant, titanic battle with the stormy elements of Sibelius

★★★★☆

With their broad span and knotty themes, the symphonies of Sibelius aren’t a natural fit for a chamber orchestra but over the years the SCO has done a great job of taking the Finnish composer’s masterpieces into their repertoire and making them their own. That quality was on triumphant display in this concert with their regular collaborator and conductor emeritus, Joseph Swensen.
